Francis Schaefer
A memorial celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church for Francis Schaefer. He died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, in the Flint Hills Care Center. He was 76.
Francis Schaefer, the son of Bill and Helen Schmitter Schaefer, was born June 13, 1930, in Neosho Rapids. He graduated from Neosho Rapids High School in 1948.
He married Mildred Dietrich on Nov. 16, 1951, in Emporia. She survives.
He had been a farmer and cattleman, and had sold Forney welders for many years until he retired in 2005. He had been active in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 35 years and was a member of the local American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 285.
He also is survived by three sons, William Francis Schaefer of Emporia, Scott Schaefer of Overland Park and Gary Schaefer of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; two brothers, Charles and Robert Dean Schaefer of Emporia; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held later at Chicago Mound Cemetery.
