Jerry Ray Nash, Hartford

The memorial service for Jerry Ray Nash of Hartford will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Hartford Christian Church in Hartford. The Rev. Milton Jones of the church will conduct the service.
Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital may be sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Nash died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at Sunset Manor in Waverly. He was 57.
He worked for the City of Paola for 14 years, then was a self-employed roofer for many years until he retired when he became disabled. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
The son of George and Viola Westpfahl Nash, he was born Feb. 11, 1949, at Kansas City, Mo. He married Donna P. Platt on March 10, 1994, at Eureka. She survives.
Mr. Nash was a member of the Am Vets and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in El Dorado.
He is also survived by five sons, Brett Nash of Burlington, Clayton Nash of Fontana, Ronald Nash of Paola, and William Nash and Jared Nash, both of Ottawa; four stepsons, Matthew Platt of Sedalia, Mo., Marcus Platt of Tennessee, and Caleb Evans and Jacob Evans, both of Ottawa; one sister, Hazel Smith of Pomona; one brother, Clarence Nash of Pittsburg, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His parents; one brother, Harley Nash; and one sister, Georgie Shipps, died earlier.
