Zelma Helen White
Zelma Helen White died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the Flint Hills Care Center, where she was a resident. She was 91.
Mrs. White, a homemaker, worked for three years as a nurses aide at Newman Memorial Hospital until 1950. She moved to Emporia in 1938.
The daughter of Loyd and Lora Bell Anderson Pitts, she was born Dec. 12, 1915, in Centerville, Iowa. She married Thomas V. Rees on June 3, 1964, in Emporia. He died Aug. 8, 1969, in Emporia. She married Commodore C. White in November 1972 in Emporia. He died Nov. 25, 2000, in Burlingame.
Mrs. White is survived by a cousin, LoraDell “Dixie” Thomas of Emporia.
A brother, Claude Pitts, died earlier.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Emporia. The Rev. Claudia Bakely of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the service.
