Juanita C. Johnson

Juanita C. Johnson, a resident of the Holiday Resort and formerly of 1314 Chestnut St., died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 91.
Mrs. Johnson was a bookkeeper for Crawford Refrigeration and the Emporia Public Library before she retired in 1979.
The daughter of Avery and Elsie May McClain Cooley, she was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Smith Center. She married Orlyn W. Johnson on Sept. 2, 1934, in Cottonwood Falls. He survives.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Hoe and Hope Garden Club, Coral Bells Garden Club, Lucky 13 Camping Club and the Just Switchmen’s Wives Club.
She is also survived by two sons, Orlyn Kenneth Johnson and Gary Lynn Johnson, both of Olpe; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Four sisters, Zona Chandler, Eunice Morris, Lucine Crawford and Evelyn Laird, died earlier, as did one brother, Weston Cooley, and a grandson.
Mrs. Johnson was cremated, with no service planned.
