Reginald “Reggie” Duane Speece, Reading
Reginald “Reggie” Duane Speece of Reading died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City. He was 75.
Mr. Speece farmed at Reading from the early 1950s, worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in the Signal Department for three years, operated a dairy farm for several years until 1957, drove a school bus in Reading for 30 years until 1974 and continued farming until July 2003.
The son of William and Effie Belle Price Speece, he was born May 13, 1931, at Reading. He graduated from Reading High School in 1949.
He married Beverly Weatherbee on April 29, 1951, in Topeka and they lived at Reading. She survives.
Mr. Speece was a member of the Arab Shrine Temple. He was a director at Reading State Bank and for KEPCO (Kansas Electric Power Company) and for REC (Rural Electric Company) for Coffey and Lyon counties.
He is also survived by two sons, J.R. Speece of rural Osage City and Rance Speece of Osage City; and two grandchildren.
The memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Friday in the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel at Osage City.
