Joan Wescott, El Dorado
Joan Wescott, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado and burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Joan Cox, the daughter of Roy E. and Nola Lambert Cox, was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Emporia. She married Charles R. Wescott on Dec. 31, 1949, in Emporia. He died Dec. 29, 1994.
Mrs. Wescott had worked as a cook in restaurants and also had been a homemaker. She had lived in El Dorado since 1980, when they moved from Towanda.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
She is survived by six children, Larry Wescott of Winfield and Karen Arnold, Lorna Kastner, Patricia Hess, Shelly Wheeler and John Wescott, all of El Dorado; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A granddaughter, Amy, died earlier.
