Rodney Paul Brakeman, Americus

Rodney Paul Brakeman, 54, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at his home in Americus.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, Neb. Mr. Bob Woodward will conduct the service, and military honors will be conducted at the Broken Bow Cemetery.
The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions to Hand in Hand Hospice or Custer County Hospice in Broken Bow may be sent to the funeral home, PO Box 175, Emporia KS 66801.
Rodney Paul Brakeman, the son of Ernest and Thelma Ballenger Brakeman, was born Feb. 3, 1953, in Broken Bow. He married Mary B. Copper on Feb. 20, 1982, at Broken Bow.
Mr. Brakeman served in the U.S. Army more than five years and had been a sergeant; he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He worked for more than nine years as a remanufacturing technician at Detroit Diesel.
He is survived by his wife of the home; his mother of Broken Bow; two daughters, Michelle Weakley and Katrina Leatherman, both of Americus; two brothers, Denny Brakeman of Broken Bow and Gary Brakeman of Colona, Il.; one sister, Judy Baillie of Broken Bow; and one grandson, Trevor Leatherman of Americus. He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Jeff Baillie.
