Inis F. Hammond

Neosho Rapids native Inis F. Hammond died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at a Topeka hospital. She was 91.
Mrs. Hammond and her husband, Gerald Hammond, were longtime farmers in the Osage City area.
The daughter of Norman and Maude Thompson Buchtel, she was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Neosho Rapids. She married Gerald F. Hammond on Jan. 14, 1935, in Burlington. He died March 16, 1994.
Mrs. Hammond is survived by a daughter, Verla Jean Hammond of Topeka; a son, Morris R. Hammond of Topeka; two sisters, Maxine Clark of Emporia and Rose Wood of California; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Osage City Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Friends also may call from 2 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
