Ronald W. Schneider, Hutchinson

Emporia native Ronald W. Schneider died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at St. Francis Campus of Via Christi Hospital in Wichita. He was 65.
Mr. Schneider retired from Southern Star Natural Gas Company in 2000 after 35 years of service. He lived in Mooreland, Okla., and Lyons for many years. He moved to Hutchinson in 1999. He served with the Kansas Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969 and was called to active duty from May, 1968 to December, 1969.
The son of Wilfred and Mary Launderville Schneider, he was born June 22, 1941, in Emporia. He graduated from Olpe High School in 1959. He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
On Jan. 22, 1966, he married Valarie L. Wilson in Emporia. She survives
Mr. Schneider was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a third degree knight of Knights of Columbus Council 612. He was a member of Sterling VFW Post 0128 and the Lyons Town and Country Club.
He is also survived by two sons, Shane Schneider of Lyons and Chris Schneider of Sterling; one daughter, Ronja Schneider Birlew of Carrollton, Texas; his mother of Carroll, Iowa; seven brothers and sisters, Mary Patricia Smith of Marion, Teresa Myers of Adale, Iowa, Marsha Boes, Bill Schneider and Julie Schweers, all of Carroll, Iowa, Mark Schneider of Glidden, Iowa, and Cheryl Burkett of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
A son, Mathew James, his father and a brother, Gerald Schneider, died earlier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Hutchinson. The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olpe. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory in Hutchinson. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Friends also may call from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.
