Freddie Andrew Ashlock, Eureka
Freddie Andrew Ashlock, formerly of Virgil, died Feb. 20, 2007, at his home in Eureka. He was 90.
Mr. Ashlock lived in the Quincy and Virgil area where he farmed and traded livestock, worked on the railroad, drove a school bus and worked the oil fields. He retired in the early 1970s. He moved to Eureka in February 2006.
The son of Fred Marion and Sadie May Sharp Ashlock, he was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Fredonia. He grew up in the Greenwood County area and attended rural Greenwood County schools, going to high school in Neal.
He married Dolores Gwendlyn Williams on June 22, 1938, in Greenwood County. They lived in the Quincy and Virgil area. She survives.
Mr. Ashlock was a member of the Quincy Methodist Church.
He is also survived by three daughters, Linda Corbin of Emporia, Elsie Nichols of Eureka and LaVerne Ashlock of Virgil; one brother, James Ashlock of Virgil; one sister, Dorothy Denchfield of Neal, seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Four brothers and five sisters died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Koup Family Funeral Home. The Rev. Alan Hunter will conduct the service. Burial will be at Virgil Cemetery. Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
