Wayne Edward Knuth , Gardner
Former Emporia and Council Grove resident Wayne Edward Knuth of Gardner died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was 66.
Mr. Knuth drove a milk truck when he was 18. He worked for Coleman Company of Wichita, then drove a truck for A.M.P.I. (milk producers). He moved from Wichita to Council Grove where he bought two trucks and drove for Mid-America Dairies. He then moved to Emporia and drove for Dolly Madison Bakery-Interstate Brands. He moved to Gardner eight months ago.
The son of Edward Heinrich and Edna Caroline H. Laudemann Knuth, he was born May 12, 1940, at White City. He attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia and Wichita Business College.
He married Shirley Jo Gann on Nov. 7, 1970 at Wichita. She survives.
Mr. Knuth was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia and King of Kings Lutheran Church in Gardner. He was a member of the Jaycee’s in Council Grove.
He is also survived by two sons, Shaun Knuth of Rose Hill and Tracy Knuth of Gardner; two daughters, Elizabeth Knuth Thornton and Pamela Knuth Williams, both of Gardner; one brother, Glen Knuth of Emporia; and six grandchildren. One grandchild, Emily, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Messiah Lutheran Church at Emporia. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
