James Raymond Whalen, Osage City

James Raymond Whalen, a longtime resident of the Osage City area, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at the Colmery O’Neil Veterans Administration hospital in Topeka. He was 61.
The son of Robert Lawrence and Lavern Marie Smith Whalen, he was born Sept. 16, 1945, at Emporia. He graduated from Osage City High school in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam war.
Mr. Whalen was the father of Beatrice and James; and brother to Florence, Tom and Connie. His parents and a brother, Robert Joseph Whalen, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. The private burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Osage City.
