Catherine M. Thuma, Abilene
Former Hartford resident Catherine M. Riechers Thuma of Abilene died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Abilene Memorial Hospital in Abilene. She was 89.
Mrs. Thuma worked 29 years for Beech Aircraft in Wichita and then moved to Texas, where she lived for 17 years. She returned to Kansas in 1995 and lived in Hartford.
The daughter of Frank and Edith Bergin Riechers, she was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Clay County. She graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1936. She married Harold Walker and they were later divorced. She married Donald Thuma. He died in 2003.
Mrs. Thuma was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, both in Hartford. In Clay County, she attended the Fact United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two stepsons, Ron Thuma of Hartford and Jim Thuma of Clinton, Mo.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Neil-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home at Clay Center. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Clay Center. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
