Melvin Dean Matile
The funeral for Melvin Dean Matile of Emporia will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Bob Colerick of the church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Mr. Matile died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor. He was 80.
He was an engineer with the Santa Fe Railroad and retired. He was a residential home builder in the community, from which he also retired. He was a resident of Emporia since 1954.
The son of Jake and Bernice Alexander Matile, Melvin Dean Matile was born Dec. 2, 1926, at Bushong. He married Dorothy A. Buck-Dieker on April 19, 1954, at Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Matile was a member of the First Christian Church. He also was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Sons of the American Legion and H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Association, which his wife founded.
He is also survived by two stepsons, Clifford Dieker of Reading and Donald Dieker of Clinton, Ill.; one sister, Maxine Faubion of Sun Lake, Ariz.; and three stepgrandchildren. A son, Larry Matile, died Nov. 9, 1977. A half brother, Kenneth Matile, died earlier.
