Billy L. Hamman, Hartford

Billy L. “Bill” Hamman of Hartford died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, in a silo accident near Hartford. He was 66.
Mr. Hamman farmed in the Hartford area for most of his life. He also was a rural mail carrier, first as a substitute for 20 years before he became full time in 1986. He retired in January 2006.
The son of Kenneth and Eloise Flake Hamman, he was born Nov. 8, 1940, at Burlington. He married Ruth Jesperson on Sept. 4, 1970, at Lyndon. She survives.
Mr. Hamman was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hartford. He also was a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association.
He is also survived by two daughters, Darla Long of Lebo and Charlotte Birk of Yates Center; two sons, Kenny Hamman of Hartford and Jay Hamman of Lebo; his mother of Hartford; two sisters, Gayla Spoon of Olathe and Donna Hoch of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandchildren. An infant daughter, Marla Hamman; and his father died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hartford High School gymnasium. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
