Lloyd James Young, Waverly

WAVERLY
Lloyd James “Jim” Young died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2007, in a farming accident at his home in Waverly. He was 77.
Mr. Young operated heavy equipment and had done conservation work. He also was a farmer and stockman.
The son of Hallie Oliver and Fern Kough Young, he was born June 27, 1929, at Westphalia. He attended several country schools and graduated from Waverly High School in 1947. He attended the University of Kansas for one year before he returned home to help his father with farming.
He married Wilberta Carlan Whiteley Williams on May 27, 1982, at the Prairie View United Methodist Church, south of Waverly. She survives.
Mr. Young was a member of Burlington Masonic Lodge 66 and a 50-year member of the Kansas Contractors Association.
He is also survived by three stepsons, Scott Williams of Emporia and Bill Williams and Larry Williams, both of Waverly; three stepdaughters, Gayle Shepheard of Pomona, Sue Stainbrook of Fontana and Kim Williams of Topeka; one sister, Joan Mills of Kansas City, Mo.; eight stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. A brother, Rex Young, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Jones Funeral Home at Burlington. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
