Edmund S. Conrade

The funeral for Edmund S. Conrade will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Robison will conduct the service. Mr. Conrade will be cremated after the funeral service, with inurnment to be at a later date in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, west of Olpe.
Mr. Conrade, of rural Olpe died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at the Holiday Resort care center where he was a resident. He was 80.
He was a longtime farmer and also worked at Bunge North America for 28 years and Emporia State University for three years, where he retired in 1991.
The son of Jacob and Bertha Mary Meier Conrade, he was born April 18, 1926, on the family farm west of Olpe. He married Evelyn Lena McElfresh on June 21, 1951, at Cottonwood Falls. She survives.
Mr. Conrade is also survived by two sons, Jerry L. Conrade of Emporia and Jeffrey L. Conrade of Olpe; one daughter, Melena G. Keeth of Platt City, Mo.; three brothers, Edward B. Conrade and Raphael H. Conrade, both of Emporia, and Aloysius Conrade of Rapid City, S.D.; and three grandchildren. A daughter, Janet Lea Conrade; and four brothers died earlier.
