Carl T. Simpson, Osage City

Carl T. Simpson died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at the Osage Nursing Center in Osage City. He was 83.
Mr. Simpson was a contractor and salesman for Wentz Equipment Company in Topeka. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Elusive.
The son of Raymond F. and Grace Holmes Simpson, he was born July 29, 1924, at Hallowell. He graduated from Columbus High School in Columbus, Kan., in 1942.
He married Betty Jarrett. They were divorced. He married Pat Tatum on Dec. 31, 1977, at Scranton. She survives.
Mr. Simpson was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osage City. He was a member of the Kansas Land Improvement Contractor Association, Twin Grove Masonic Lodge in Severy, American Legion Post 400 in Topeka and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1281 in Herington.
He is also survived by three sons, Doug Simpson of Osage City, Gene Simpson of Herington and Jay Dee Pierce of Topeka; four daughters, Toni Sue Hampton of Overland Park, Susan Jane Bauer and Leigh Anne Sharrett, both of Topeka and Elaine Griffith of Delia; two sisters, Elizabeth Randall of Columbus and Golda Westervelt of Oswego; two brothers, Raymond Simpson of Wier and Dareld Simpson of Columbus; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. A brother, William Simpson, and an infant sister died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Osage City. The graveside service with military honors will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Milo Cemetery at Barnard. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Friends also may call from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
