Madge Estelle Inwood, Burlington

Former Olpe resident Madge Estelle Inwood of Burlington died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at the Life Care Center in Burlington, where she had moved in 1999. She was 91.
Mrs. Inwood taught at Olpe junior high and high school from 1959 until she retired in 1978. Earlier, she taught at Halstead High school for several years.
The daughter of Harold and Estelle Brooke Nash, she was born June 6, 1916 in Grantville, where she grew up and attended Grantville Elementary School. She graduated from Seaman High School in Topeka in 1932 and from Washburn University in Topeka in 1936 with a degree in physical education and drama.
She married Stanley Stephen Inwood on March 11, 1943 at the Catholic chapel at Fort Riley. They moved to Olpe in 1959. Mr. Inwood died April 6, 1990.
Mrs. Inwood was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society in Olpe. She also was a member of the Seaman High School and Washburn University alumni associations.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen Inwood of Emporia and Lance Inwood of Hamilton; one daughter, Jane Nuessen of Burlington; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Harold Nash, Lynn Nash and Lauren Nash, died earlier.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olpe. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the church, after which the family will meet friends.
