Velcia R. Holland, Madison, Kansas

1920 - 2007

MADISON
The funeral for Velcia R. Holland will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Madison. The Rev. Tom Miller will conduct the service. Burial will be in Blakely Cemetery, northwest of Madison. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holland died Aug. 16, 2007, at her daughter’s home in Overland Park. She was 87. She was a lifelong resident of Madison until she lived the last three years in Overland Park with her daughter and son-in-law.
She owned and operated the Skelly Grocery, known as the “little store,” in Madison for many years.
The daughter of Ellsworth and Margaret McCray Crowell, she was born May 30, 1920, near Olpe. She married Glen Ivan Holland on June 23, 1941, in Wenatchee, Wash. He died July 8, 1969.
Mrs. Holland is survived by one son, Terry D. Holland of Madison; one daughter, Cheryl Beer of Overland Park; three grandchildren, including Carolyn Cole of Emporia; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, five sisters and one great-grandson died earlier.
