James Leland Bishop

James Leland Bishop, 110 W. Sixth Ave., died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at the Flint Hills Care Center. He was 58.
Mr. Bishop was a client at Hetlinger Developmental Services where he worked in various capacities and also, at businesses, including Wal-Mart. Earlier, he worked at Broyles Joyland when he lived in Topeka.
The son of Noble E. and Kathryn B. Gibbs Bishop, he was born Aug. 23, 1948, at Chicago, Ill. After the death of his parents, he lived with his aunt, Kay Bush, and her family in Topeka before he moved to Emporia.
Mr. Bishop was a member of Victory Fellowship Church. He also was a member of the Emporia Special Olympics and was a Special Olympics Hall of Fame inductee.
He is survived by a cousin, Carl R. Bush of Topeka; and friends and caretakers, Don C. Krueger, Debbie O’Connor and Richard Spencer, all of Emporia; and Max Burnham of Madison.
The graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Olpe. The Rev. Tom Miller will conduct the service.
