Elvira Cisneros Lira, Osage City

OSAGE CITY
Elvira Lira died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at her home in Osage City. She was 75.
Mrs. Lira lived in Emporia until 1953 when she moved to Osage City. She had been an elevator operator at the Broadview Hotel in Emporia, a playground supervisor for the Osage City school district and a child care provider at her home.
The daughter of Cipriano and Luisa Rodriguez Cisneros, she was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Emporia. She married Pedro Lira Sr. on May 23, 1953, in Emporia. He survives.
Mrs. Lira was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City. She took Girl Scouts to Mexico as a Scout leader and helped with trips as a Band Parent member. She helped both groups with fundraisers and benefit dinners.
She also is survived by four daughters, Rita Ann Ford of Osage City, Consuelo Marshall of Olathe, Angela Swisher of Topeka and Mary Helen Koehler of Florence, Ky.; two sons, Marcos Lira of Topeka and Pedro Lira Jr. of Glendale, Ariz.; three brothers, Felix and Phillip Cisneros, both of Emporia, and Santos Cisneros of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Frances Delatorre of Liberty, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
One brother, John Cisneros, died earlier, as did two sisters, Juanita Galvan and Mary Lira, and two grandsons, Daniel Marcos Mercellino Lira and Miguel D’Ante’ Sanders.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Osage City. Friends may call Monday at the church from 5 to 7:30 p.m., when the rosary will be recited. The family will meet friends after the rosay. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Osage City.
