Robert Lawrence, Matfield Green

1923 - 2007

A service to celebrate the life of Robert “Bob” Lawrence of Matfield Green will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Matfield Community Church in Matfield Green.
The Rev. Billie Blair will conduct the service. Burial, with military honors, will be in Matfield Green Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls and Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions to the church or Lifeline Animal Protection and Placement may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
Mr. Lawrence died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 at Newman Regional Health. He was 84.
He was a chart changer for the Williams Gas Company, headquartered in Guymon, Okla., before he retired in 1987 after 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
The son of William and Martha Payton Lawrence, he was born June 6 1923, at Bazaar. He married Della Hull on April 6, 1947, at Matfield Green. She survives.
Mr. Lawrence is also survived by two daughters, Terri Lawrence of Wichita and Sherri Funk of Newton; one sister, Mary Sorenson of Colorado; and one grandchild.
