Norma Y. Vertner

Norma Y. Vertner of Emporia died Monday, April 23, 2007, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka. She was 71.
Mrs. Vertner worked for Dolly Madison before she retired.
The daughter of Ted and Margaret Holman Quested, she was born July 12, 1935, at Salina. She graduated from Solomon High School in 1953.
She married Ralph W. Vertner on Feb. 1, 1957, at Solomon. He survives.
Mrs. Vertner was a member of the Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church.
She also is survived by two daughters, Susan Ashburn and Pam Purdum, both of Emporia; one son, Daniel Vertner of Emporia; two sisters, Marilyn Quested of Salina and Detta Rome of Sherman, Texas; one brother, Charles Quested of Fort Worth, Texas; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Ashburn.
The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Al Arehart will conduct the service. Mrs. Vertner was cremated. The inurnment service will be in the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the church and sent in care of Charter Funerals — Emporia Chapel, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
