Penny Potter-Lanzrath
The funeral for Penny Rae Potter-Lanzrath of Emporia will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Saffordville United Methodist Church in Toledo. The Rev. Bev Meadows of the church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Toledo. Those who attend are asked to bring lawn chairs. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lanzrath died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 51.
She was a clinical social worker for 30 years. She worked for the mental health centers in Topeka, Salina and Emporia before she started her own office. She was recognized by The Emporia Gazette for her work with the sexually abused.
The daughter of Carl and Hawa North Potter, she was born Aug. 27, 1955, at Strong City. She graduated from Emporia High School, Emporia State University with a bachelor’s degree and the University of Kansas with a master’s degree.
She married Gilbert Michael “Hoach” Lanzrath on Sept. 16, 1996, on the Snake River at the base of the Teton Mountains in Moose, Wyo. He survives.
Mrs. Lanzrath was a member of the Saffordville United Methodist Church in Toledo.
She is also survived by her stepfather, Chester Beyer of Emporia; three brothers, Roger Potter and Jim Potter, both of Emporia, and Kim Potter of Yates Center; four sisters, Sharon Carr, Brenda Ryno and Vicki Jacobs, all of Emporia, and Carla Bailey of Topeka; one stepbrother, Bob Beyer of Council Grove; one stepsister, Shirley Zink of Lebo; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents and grandparents died earlier.
