Charles Ramon Schaefer

The memorial service for Charles Ramon Schaefer will be at 2 p.m. April 28, 2007, at the First Christian Church. Chaplain Hal Lewis of Newman Regional Health will conduct the service. Mr. Schaefer was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Chicago Mound Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association may be sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Schaefer died Monday, April 16, 2007, at his home, 1109 Luther St. He was 80.
He sold American Republic Insurance and Western Southern Life Insurance and also worked at the water purification plant. He was a longtime farmer. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps from 1950 to 1952.
The son of William C. and Helen Arora Schmitter Schaefer, he was born Oct. 17, 1926, at Emporia. He married Mary M. Housley on July 28, 1957. She survives.
Mr. Schaefer was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is also survived by two sons, Charles Lester Schaefer of Emporia and Jacob Schaefer of rural Reading; one brother, Robert Dean Schaefer of Emporia; one grandson; one stepgranddaughter; and one stepgreat-granddaughter. A brother, Francis Schaefer, died earlier.
