Kenneth Mercer
Kenneth Mercer of Emporia died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He was 60.
Mr. Mercer was the head chef at the Emporia Country Club.
The son of Merle and Della Donovan Mercer, he was born May 6, 1946, in Atchison. He married Evelyn Cox. They were divorced and she survives. He married Rhonda Edington on Nov. 23, 1974, in Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Mercer is also survived by two daughters, Heather Mercer of Emporia and Michelle Parker of Topeka; two sons, Dustin Mercer of Emporia and Shawn Mercer of Horton; his mother, Della Mercer of Atchison; his stepmother, Delma Mercer of Oskaloosa; five sisters, Lois Wohletz, Linda Grippin and Nancy Wiltz, all of Atchison, Pamela Mercer of Nortonville and Penny Faulkender of Overland Park; his brother, Larry Mercer of Atchison; and 11 grandchildren.
His father died earlier.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Jayne Duncan of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
