James L. Connor, Jacobs Creek
James L. Connor of Jacobs Creek and formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Friday, April 13, 2007, at the home of a daughter in Kansas City, Kan. He was 69.
Mr. Connor was a police officer with the Kansas City Kansas Police Department before he retired in 1992 and moved to Jacobs Creek. He served with the U.S. Army from June 1957 to June 1959.
The son of William and Margaret Leonard Connor, he was born Dec. 28, 1937, at Topeka. He married Nancy Sue Lake on Feb. 17, 1973, at Kansas City, Kan. She died June 13, 1999.
Mr. Connor was a Catholic.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Porras and Lori Chaffin, both of Kansas City, Kan.; a son, Chris Conner of Deltona, Fla.; two brothers, Mike Connor of Kansas City, Kan., and Bob Connor of Shawnee; one sister, Karen Kauffman of Overland Park; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two brothers, Bill Connor and Jerry Connor; and a sister, Mary Lou Chambers, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Jones Funeral Home at Burlington. Burial will be in Strawn Cemetery at Jacobs Creek. The family will meet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
