Edward Elmer Kunkel, Waverly

Edward “Eddie” Elmer Kunkel died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at the Sunset Manor in Waverly. He was 100.
Mr. Kunkel was a farmer and stockman until he was 87 and lived his entire life on a farm southeast of Waverly until he moved to the Sunset Manor in June 1999. He drove until he was 88.
The son of Fred and Anna Marie Keterer Kunkel, he was born March 29, 1907, at Waverly. He attended Liberty Grade School near Waverly.
He married Mildred Dixon on March 21, 1936, at Waverly. She died May 19, 2000.
Mr. Kunkel was a member of the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by one son, Fred Kunkel of Waverly; two sisters, Elsie H. Schmidt of Great Bend and Ida McMillin of South Carolina; one brother, Orvis “Pete” Kunkel of Waverly; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Four brothers, Charles W. Kunkel, Fritz J. Kunkel, Albert A. Kunkel and Paul M. Kunkel; and two sisters, Sophia Lindsey and Helen M. Richardson, died earlier.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Waverly Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
