Naomi E. Melton

Naomi E. Melton of Emporia died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. She was 92.
Mrs. Melton was a homemaker.
The daughter of Ora and Naomi Norman Fees, she was born Dec. 2, 1914, at Whiting. She received a teaching certificate from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
She married Daniel Walter “Doc” Melton on Oct. 16, 1937, at Basehor. He died July 19, 2000.
Mrs. Melton was a member of a bridge club.
She is survived by one daughter, Diana Durkin of Olathe; and friends and caretakers, Pat and Anita Ford and their children, Sean and Alec, of Emporia. Two sisters died earlier.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pation Garden in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The Rev. Jayne Duncan of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the service. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hand in Hand Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Melton’s name may be made to the Emporia Friends of the Zoo and sent in care of the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
The incorrect memorial was given in the obituary published Wednesday.
