Frank A. Davis Jr

The funeral for Frank A. Davis Jr., of rural Emporia will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier of the church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Haworth Cemetery, southwest of Emporia. Graveside services will be conducted by Emporia Masonic Lodge 12, A.F. & A.M. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions for scholarships for Lyon County farm youth may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Davis died Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at Newman Regional Health. He was 75.
He was a farmer and rancher. He also had been a welder for Sauder Custom Fabrication, IBP Special Projects and had taught welding at the Flint Hills Area Technical School.
The son of Frank A. Sr. and Elsie Dunn Davis, he was born May 22, 1931, on the family farm west of Olpe. He married Barbara Jean Holzapfel on June 1, 1952, at the First Christian Church. She survives.
Mr. Davis was the first president of the Kansas Young Farmers Association and a past Kansas Young Farmer of the Year. He was a member of the Kansas Farm Bureau. Mr. Davis was a member and past master of the former Saffordville Masonic Lodge 395, A.F. & A.M., and currently a member of Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 A.F. & A.M.; and was a 32nd degree Mason and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was a leader with 4-H and served on the board of the Production Credit Association.
He is also survived by two sons, Steven L. Davis and Bradley K. Davis, both of rural Emporia; one daughter, Brenda J. Gehring of rural Olpe; two brothers, Dale K. Davis of Emporia and Robert H. Davis, of Olpe; one sister, Joyce L. Pimple of Emporia; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
