Orville Wilson “Doc” Baxter

TOPEKA
Emporia native Orville Wilson “Doc” Baxter of Topeka died Monday, April 2, 2007. He was 92.
Mr. Baxter worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka from 1954 until he retired in June 1977. Earlier, he worked in various jobs in Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Kansas.
The son of John Wilson and Ada May Lydiatt Baxter, he was born March 12, 1915, at Emporia. He married Nellie Evelyn McCulloughon Nov. 26, 1954. She died Aug. 14, 2000.
Mr. Baxter is survived by three daughters, Violet L. Felbush, Peggy Rhoads and Marion A. Herman. A daughter, Sylvia M. Beasterfield; a brother, Frank Baxter; and a sister, Ethel Merwin, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens at Topeka.
