Frances Bernice Hamman

Frances Bernice Hamman of Americus and formerly of Emporia and Topeka, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at a Topeka hospital. She was 71.
The daughter of Herbert and Helen Demler VanGorden, she was born Jan. 9, 1935, at Emporia. She spent her early life in the Emporia area and lived in Topeka after her marriage. She returned to Emporia in 1971 and moved to Americus in 1994.
She married Connie Daryl Hamman on March 6, 1954, at Yates Center. He survives.
Mrs. Hamman is also survived by three daughters, Connie Hamman-Pitts of Americus, Debbie Weese of Atlanta, Ga., and Kim King of Branson, Mo.; one son, Randy Hamman of Topeka; two sisters, JoAnn Carpenter of Emporia and Peggy Langley of Canyon, Texas; one brother, Michael VanGorden of Overland Park; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A brother, Richard VanGorden; and a sister, Mary Cates, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home at Lebo. Burial will be in Key West Cemetery, south of Lebo. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
