Jerry D. Keller

Jerry D. Keller of Cottonwood Falls died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., where he was taken after a sudden illness. He was 63.
Mr. Keller taught industrial arts for the Chase County school district from the fall of 1970 until the spring of 1991. He also was a carpenter and did much of the construction in Chase County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
The son of Alexander and Linda Dick Keller, he was born May 14, 1943, at Lyons. He married Corinne Wadsworth on May 23, 1968, at Lyons. They were divorced. He married Allison MacGregor Harbaugh on June 15, 1991, at Emporia. She survives.
Mr. Keller was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Emporia. He also was a member of the Kansas Bowhunters Society, Cottonwood Falls Country Club, National Rifle Association, National Education Association and the Flint Hills Antique Power Association. He was an instructor with Bowhunter Education classes; served on the Calvary Barn Restoration Committee and the board of the Roniger Museum and worked in many other community activities.
He is also survived by a son, Kevin Michael Keller of Strong City; a daughter, Janice Lynn Keller of Shawnee; two brothers, Jim Keller of Lyons and Dick Keller of Downs; a stepson, Benjamin Kent Harbaugh of Manhattan; two stepdaughters, Sarah Jo Harbaugh of Emporia and Emily Sue Harbaugh of Denison; and one grandson. His parents died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Kelley Lackey II will conduct the service. A “Time for Remembering” service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Community Building at Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Keller was cremated. The private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions to a fund for the education of his grandchildren established at the Exchange National Bank or the Calvary Barn Project fund may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
