Betty L. Tipton
Betty L. Tipton, formerly of 514 S. Commercial St., died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at the Holiday Resort where she was a resident. She was 79.
Mrs. Tipton was a self-employed beautician for 20 years, working at her home.
The daughter of Glenn L. and Elizabeth Suddock Stout, she was born July 30, 1927, at Emporia. She married Herbert L. Tipton on March 2, 1944, at Kansas City, Mo. He died Dec. 22, 1997.
Mrs. Tipton was a member of the First Church of God.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Lynn Tipton of Emporia and William Lee Tipton of Dundee, Fla.; one daughter, Bettie Ann Lady of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Eloise Tolbird of West Monroe, La.; 12 granddaughters; and many great-grandchildren. One son, Glenn Lee Tipton, three brothers and three sisters died earlier.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. James Scott of the Cornerstone Baptist Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery south of Emporia.
