John Clifford Cooper

Emporia native John Clifford Cooper died of a heart attack Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Alexandria, Va. He was 62.
Mr. Cooper worked for the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
The son of Russell and Thelma Cooper, he was born Sept. 22, 1943, at Emporia. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1961 and the University of Kansas in Lawrence with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.
He married Sharon Loerger of Cheney 39 years ago. She survives.
Mr. Cooper is also survived by one son, Chris Cooper, who is serving with the U.S. Navy; and one brother, Bob Cooper of Dallas, Texas.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Emporia.
