Samuel Dee Ellis

The funeral for former Emporian Samuel Dee Ellis of Alford, Fla., will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church. The graveside service will be at 5 p.m. Thursday in Idana Cemetery at Idana.
Memorial contributions to the the Philip Hayden Foundation, a charity for a Christian Chinese orphanage, or the Emporia Baseball Club may be sent in care of Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Mr. Ellis died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Chipley, Fla., of injuries sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident. He was 23.
He was a construction worker.
The son of Larry D. and Marilyn J. Ellis, he was born May 17, 1983, at Clay Center.
Mr. Ellis played on the 2001 state champion American Legion Baseball team and also played Frisbee golf.
He is survived by his parents of Emporia; one brother, Tim Ellis of Emporia; and three sisters, Molly Ellis of the home, Jessica Bryan Ripple of Powder Springs, Ga., and Kacy Postlethwait of Overbrook. His grandparents died earlier.
