Mary Rose Brown

Mary Rose Brown of rural Emporia died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at her home. She was 61.
Mrs. Brown, with her husband, Ted, owned and operated Home Health Care Center in Emporia from 1983 to 1989, and Holiday Resort from 1988 until they sold the business and retired in 1998. She was Holiday Resort’s bookkeeper.
Mary Rose Sendon, the daughter of William and Lillian Romines Sendon, was born Jan. 15, 1945, in Elizabeth, N.J. She graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1962 with a certificate in cosmetology.
She married M. Theodore “Ted” Brown on Jan. 19, 1963. He survives.
The two moved to Hackettstown, N.J., in 1966 and lived there until July 1980, when they moved to Emporia because of a job transfer with Didde-Glaser.
After their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed camping and traveling with their grandchildren to Alaska and back, and attending the annual Oshkosh Airshow.
She was a member of the Shriner Nomads and a charter member of the Emporia Pilots Association.
Other survivors include a daughter, Tammy Brown of Olathe; two sons, Theodore “Ted” Brown of Boise, Idaho, and Jeffrey “Bo” Brown of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The Rev. Leonard Wagner of the Church of God of Prophecy will conduct the service.
Mrs. Brown is to be cremated.
