Edwin A. Long
Edwin A. Long, of Hamilton, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. He was 79.
Mr. Long was a retired oil producer and U.S. Army veteran of WWII.
The son of Archie A. and Mary E. Calvert, he was born May 24, 1927 in Virgil. Mr. Long grew up in Virgil and graduated from Virgil High School in 1945. He moved to Hamilton in 1956 from Grenola.
On Nov. 1, 1947 he married Glenda Woods in Augusta. She survives.
Other survivors include a brother Lewis Long of Hamilton; a sister Alma Anderson of Almena; a son Leland Long of Hamilton; three daughters, Eula Tate, Emporia, Shelia Gilbert, Neosho Rapids, and Sheryl Adcock, Americus; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Earl Long and one sister Anna Stone.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006 at United Methodist Church in Hamilton. Rev. Mark Demas will conduct the service.
Instead of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hamilton Senior Center. Contributions my be sent to the Wilson Funeral Home at P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860.
