Mary M. Wise
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. Wise will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Darren Henson will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. No visitation is planned.
Memorial contributions to the church Endowment Fund may be sent in care of Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel, 501 W. Sixth Ave., Emporia, KS 66801.
Mrs. Wise died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at the Holiday Resort, where she was a resident. She was 87.
She was a homemaker.
She was born Oct. 8, 1918, at Mitchell, S.D. Her adopted parents were Joseph and Sara Smith.
Her husband, Robert H. Wise, died earlier.
Mrs. Wise worked with the International Student Foundation at Emporia State University and a member of the Rosean Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Risley of Amarillo, Texas; three sons, Michael R. Wise of Tampa, Fla., Harvey Wise of Glendora, Calif., and Mark Wise of Dusseldorf, Germany; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two daughters, Mary E. Wise and Geraldine A. Wise; one son, John S. Wise; one sister, Phylis Biegler; two brothers, Joe Smith and Phillip Smith; and a grandson, Miles McEldonney, died earlier.
