Barbara Jean Pickett
Former Emporia resident Barbara Jean Pickett of Springfield, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo. She was 58.
Mrs. Pickett, a licensed practical nurse for 30 years in Kansas and Missouri, graduated from Newman Hospital School of Nursing in Emporia in 1976.
The daughter of Ollie and Rose Lillian Ervin Ryan, she was born Feb. 8, 1948, at Danville, Ill. She attended Diamond grade school and Oakwood High School.
She married David Lee Pickett on November 15, 1969 in Danville and he survives.
Mrs. Pickett was raised Baptist and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sheri Pritchard of Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Duane Allen Pickett of Springfield, Mo., and Terry Scott Pickett of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Mary Pollock of Springfield, Mo.; and three grandchildren. Her parents; a sister, Joann Howard; and a brother, Ollie Ryan Jr. , died earlier.
The graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery at Danville. The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Pape Funeral Home and Cremation Gardens in Danville, Ill.,
