Margaret M. Hind

Margaret M. Hind of rural Madison died Sunday, Sept. 3, at the Holiday Resort in Emporia. She was 92.
Mrs. Hind, a homemaker, also helped her husband, William, farm near Madison. She taught piano in her home. They moved from their farm in Greenwood County to Alterra Sterling House in 2004.
The daughter of William R. and Myrtle Hoobler Mereness, she was born April 28, 1914, at Kearney, Mo. From the age of four years, she lived on the family farm near Las Animas, Colo. She graduated from high school in Las Animas, Colo. and attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority.
She married William Hind on Aug. 8, 1937. He died Sept. 17, 2005.
Mrs. Hind was an active member of the United Methodist Church. She was a 59-year member of P.E.O. Chapter DY and a member of the White Rose Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is also survived by two sons, J.H. “Jim” Hind of rural Madison and Steven Hind of Hutchinson; one daughter, Diane Alex of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Christian Church at Madison. The Rev. Bob Robison will conduct the service. Burial will be in Blakely Cemetery, northwest of Madison. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Madison.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hand in Hand Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 488, Madison, KS 66860.
