Julia Elizabeth Palmer

Julia Elizabeth Palmer of Burlington died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington. She was 95.
Mrs. Palmer was a nurse’s aide for 10 years. Her husband worked in soil conservation and they lived in Neodesha, Erie, Madison, Eureka and Winfield before returning to Burlington in 1972. She moved from her home to the Life Care Center in Burlington two weeks ago.
The daughter of Holly and Elsie Clark Curry, she was born April 3, 1911, in Lyon County near Hartford. She moved with her family to Burlington when she was a child.
She married Absalom Grant Palmer on Sept. 27, 1931, in Burlington. He died April 12, 1984.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of the First Christian Church in Burlington.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha Short of Burlington; one son, George Palmer of Madison; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Four brothers, Homer Curry, Errett Curry, Milton Curry and George Curry; two sisters, Esther and Rita Curry; and a great-grandson died earlier.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
