Bill Singular
Bill Singular of Lyndon died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at Osage City. He was 83.
Mr. Singular and his wife, Mary, owned and operated the Lyndon Lumber Yard for many years. He grew up in Emporia and lived in Kansas City and Burlington before he moved to Lyndon.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the 8th Air Force stationed in England. He was shot down over Germany and was a prisoner of war for nine months.
The son of Henry and Jennie Mader Singular, he was born July 8, 1923, at Grenola, Okla. He attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia where he was a member of Phi Delta Chi. After the war, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in business.
He married Mary Carlson on March 21, 1944, at Americus. She survives.
Mr. Singular was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 125.
He is also survived by a daughter, Nancy, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Stephen, of Denver, Colo.; his sister, Ruth, of Lake Tapawingo, Mo.; and one grandson.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Lyndon United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery.
The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon.
