Clyde Thomas Slawson, Council Grove
Clyde Thomas Slawson of Council Grove died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at Stormont-Vail Regional Hospital in Topeka. He was 75.
Mr. Slawson was a logger and did construction work before he retired in 2000. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
The son of Lonnie and Anna Pearl Cooper Slawson, he was born June 13, 1931, at Newburg, Mo. He married Dorothy Mae Coffman on Aug. 15, 1959, at Council Grove. She survives.
Mr. Slawson was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by four daughters, Diana Ehrlich, Lucille Barr and Judy Mangold, all of Council Grove, and Connie Hutchinson of Hamilton, Mont.; one stepdaughter, Sharon Good of Sugar Loaf Keys, Fla.; one stepson, Rick Reed of Guthrie, Okla.; four sisters, Lucille Scholtes of Council Grove and Leota VanEaton, Elenore O’Brian and Margaret Slawson, all of Missouri; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Claude Slawson and Chester Slawson; one sister, Rose Bond; and a grandson, Mitchell Reed, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Flint HIlls Apostolic Church at Council Grove. Burial, with services conducted by a Fort Riley Honor Guard, will be in sunny Slope Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Penwell-Gabel Council Grove Funeral Home.
