Dallas A. Sanderson, Smithville, MO.

Hamilton native Dallas A. Sanderson of Smithville, Mo., and formerly of Grandview, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. He was 84.
Mr. Sanderson was a teacher in the Hickman Mills school district before he retired in 1983. He previously worked for Phillips Petroleum Company.
The son of Roy and Josephine Brashear Sanderson, he was born Feb. 15, 1922, at Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps in England during World War II, then continued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1948 and a master’s degree from Central Missouri State University in 1968.
He married Roberta Youmans 53 years ago. She survives.
Mr. Sanderson was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Grandview and Smithville. He was a 50-year member of the Masons and Order of the Eastern Star; a member of the National Education Association and member and former vice president of the Missouri National Education Association; and member of Smithville American Legion Post 58.
He is also survived by one son, Michael Sanderson of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Sharyl Smith of Kansas City North; and four grandchildren. Two brothers, LeRoy and Charles Sanderson, died earlier.
The memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Smithville United Methodist Church. The graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 28 in Janesville Cemetery at Hamilton.
The family suggests that, instead of flowers memorial contributions be sent to the Smithville United Methodist Church, 505 N. 169 Highway, Smithville, MO 64089.
