Nelda Marie Longley Johnson, Grandview, MO
Former Madison resident Nelda Marie Longley Johnson died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at the home of her daughter at Grandview, Mo. She was 86.
Mrs. Johnson was a nurses aide and a homemaker.
She was born Aug. 18, 1920, and grew up in the Chiles and Springhill communities. She married Sidney Douglas Johnson on April 6, 1939. They lived in the Paola area for many years and later moved to Madison. He died earlier.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by four daughters, Katherine Gould of Admire, Glenna Troxel of Grandview, Mo., Norma Evans of Rembert, S.C., and Gerry Cuthbertson of Warrensburg, Mo.; one sister, Mildred Ryan of Overland Park; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Rita JoAnn Conners; two sons, William Douglas Johnson and Clifford “Buck” Ray Johnson; four brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren died earlier.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Wilson and Son Funeral Home-Paola Chapel. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Gardens Cemetery in rural Paola. The family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
