Carol Marie Mildward, COTTONWOOD FALLS
The service to celebrate the life of Carol Marie Mildward of Cottonwood Falls will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Brown-Bennett- Alexander Funeral Home at Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. Mic McGuire of the Grace United Methodist Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls. The family will meet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions to the Chase County Senior Center may be sent in care of funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
Mrs. Mildward died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at Newman Regional Health. She was 83.
She was secretary-bookkeeper for several firms in Missouri and in Chase County. She also wrote and published her own cookbook.
The daughter of Roy B. and Alice Ballew Lesan, she was born Sept. 21, 1923, at Eagleville, Mo. She married Raymond L. Willis on Nov. 9, 1940. He died Nov. 23, 1947. She married Paul William Mildward on March 4, 1960, at Maryville, Mo. He died Sept. 16, 1982.
Mrs. Mildward is survived by five sons, Kenny Mildward of Emporia, Russell Mildward of Cottonwood Falls, Nathan Willis of Pearisburg, Va., David Willis of Hideaway, Texas, and Randy Willis of Maryville, Mo.; two brothers, Don Lesan of Ames, Iowa, and George Lesan of St. Joseph, Mo.; one sister, Sibyl LaFollette of Fort Mill, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A brother, Warren Lesan; a sister, Betty Carron; and one grandson, Steve Willis, died earlier.
