Robert Lee Stack
The graveside service for Robert Lee Stack will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Claney Cemetery at Marion.
Mr. Stack died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at the Holiday Resort. He was 97.
He worked for Boeing in Wichita, then enlisted in the Navy and served 30 months in the South Pacific. After the war, he sold tractor tires for Montgomery Wards in Abilene. He later moved to Haysville, then to California. He returned to Kansas in 1967 and moved to Marion in 1970, where he and his wife renovated and sold houses. Later, they moved to the Holiday Resort in Emporia.
The son of George and Ada Lee Stack, he was born July 22, 1909, at Amber, Okla. He graduated from Amber High School in 1929, where he stayed to play football.
He married his wife, Sally, on May 16, 1943. She died at the Holiday Resort in October 2005.
Mr. Stack is survived by one daughter, Dawna Denney of Madison; one son, Jack Stack of Marion; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. One son, Richard Dale Stack, died in 1995. One brother and four sisters also died earlier.
