Betty Joan Shrimplin
Betty Joan Shrimplin of Burlington died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Burlington. She was 70.
Miss Shrimplin served in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1969. She had worked as a mail clerk. She moved to Burlington from Eustis, Fla., in May 2003.
The daughter of Edward B. and Florence A. Murphy Shrimplin, she was born March 2, 1936, at Holcomb. She graduated from high school and attended junior college.
Miss Shrimplin was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Garden City.
She is survived by two brothers, Thomas “Pete” Shrimplin of Manhattan and Marion “Bud” Shrimplin of Flint, Texas; two sisters, Ida Herrell and Bonnie June Seavey, both of Garden City; and a niece, Carolyn Strawder and husband, David Strawder, and their son, Ethan, of Burlington who helped care for Miss Shrimplin when she was in Burlington.
The memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Jones Funeral Home at Burlington. Inurnment will be in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington. Miss Shrimplin was cremated.
